VirusTotal is an online service which scans your given file with almost 40 antivirus engines. It provides the detail report of viruses, worms, trojans, and all kinds of malware detected by antivirus engines.

This free, independent and useful service scans your give file with multiple antivirus engines to give you maximum protection against any threats. After scan detailed results from every engine will be provided.
All antivirus engines are updated with the most recent and latest virus definition.

There are two ways to scan any of your file. Simply upload your file from the Virus Total homepage or send that file as an email attachment for virus scan. Make sure that file must not be larger than 20mb in size and write “SCAN” in the subject. You will get a detailed report of scan in your email.

VirusTotal is not substitute any antivirus software installed in a PC, as it only scans individual files on demand. It does not offer permanent protection for the user’s system either.

This service is developed by Hispasec Sistemas, an independent IT Security laboratory, that uses several command line versions of antivirus engines, updated regularly with official signature files published by their respective developers.
