There are dozens and dozens of URL shortening services. Everybody came across plenty of short URLs while surfing. Many times clicking on short URL can take you to the unwanted website or can cause trouble to your computer as there are plenty of phishing and spamming sites hiding behind the short URLs.
So if you want to know what exactly is behind the short URL before clicking LongURL can help. This is a Firefox add-on after installation it automatically detects the short URLs on any page. On moving the mouse over the short URL it will display the actual URL behind the short URL.
This add-on supports almost 200 URL shortening services. LongURL provides a simple RESTful API to allow application developers to easily use its service. This documentation and the API are subject to change. While the API is versioned, early versions of the API my be aggressively deprecated.
